LONDON – Entertainment, media and IP law firm Wiggin is pleased to announce the promotion of three senior lawyers – Adelaide Lopez, Bethan Lloyd, and Gaelyn Fuhrmann – to the partnership, effective 1 April 2026. Their promotions reflect the firm’s continued investment in developing exceptional talent and strengthening its specialist contentious, regulatory, and sector-focused practices.
The trio’s promotions are aligned with the firm’s strategy, which is centred on deep sector knowledge and technical excellence. Each brings a proven record of advising major clients on high‑stakes matters and contributing significantly to the firm’s culture.
Adelaide Lopez
Lopez is a litigator with extensive experience in complex and sensitive data protection, media and intellectual property disputes, and all facets of commercial litigation.
Her career began in the film industry before transitioning to law and qualifying to practice in both New York and in England and Wales. Lopez was a member of the Wiggin team that advised Harper Collins on the multiple libel and data protection claims from Roman Abramovich et al in relation to the publication of Putin’s People, for which the firm was awarded Litigation Team of The Year by The Lawyer in 2022. Notably she also spent just under a year on secondment to News UK as its Group Chief Compliance Officer. In addition to her client work Lopez has made a significant contribution to firmwide initiatives including its Women of Wiggin group, of which she was a founding member.
Lopez has been described as “a star who commands complete trust in her clients,” with “a forensic eye for detail and fantastic tactical acumen” (Legal 500, 2025).
Bethan Lloyd
Lloyd is a commercial lawyer with significant experience acting for clients across Wiggin’s core sectors, in particular betting & gaming and sports.
Her practice extends from advising on digital infrastructure to the acquisition, licensing, and distribution of content, along with complex regulatory issues. Lloyd joined Wiggin from William Hill, where she served as Head of Commercial, bringing five years of in-house expertise and insight. She quickly established herself as a trusted adviser with a strong record of winning and retaining high‑value client relationships. A recognised leader in the gambling sector, she has played a key role in the creation and growth of the Global Gaming Women network in Europe and has recently been elected as chair of its International Committee.
Clients commend Lloyd for being “whip smart” and “extremely efficient with her time” (Legal 500, 2025).
Gaelyn Fuhrmann
Fuhrmann is a highly experienced disputes lawyer who advises on high-value media and commercial litigation, arbitration, and complex regulatory investigations.
She is an English-qualified Solicitor-Advocate and prior to Wiggin her experience included eight years at Slaughter and May. Since joining, Fuhrmann has led a large team of Wiggin lawyers through the high-profile litigation brought by Noel Clarke against Guardian News & Media, for which she was recognised as Lawyer of the Week by The Times. The case is the first time a major media outlet successfully defended a libel claim using the public interest defence. Among other notable recent matters, her advice has also been instrumental on complex Ofcom and CMA investigations.
Fuhrmann has been praised by clients for her “sharp mind”, “solid grasp of commercial objectives”, and ability to “handle heavy litigation with control” (Legal 500, 2025).
Ben Whitelock, Senior Partner, said: “Adelaide, Bethan and Gaelyn exemplify the best of Wiggin – exceptional legal expertise, deep sector understanding, and a commitment to collaboration and innovation. Each has made a significant contribution to our clients and to the firm’s culture. Their promotions strengthen key areas of our practice. I’m delighted to welcome them to the partnership.”
The internal promotions follow eight lateral hires into Wiggin’s sports team in the last 18 months.
