The revised Guidelines for examination of registered Community designs were adopted on 14 September and entered into force on 1 October 2018.

The EUIPO Guidelines are the main point of reference on EUIPO’s current design practice for users of the Community design system and for professional advisers.

The revision focused on a number of important issues, such as the role of product indications and functionality in designs.  The Guidelines also incorporate recent Court of Justice rulings.  To access the revised Guidelines, click here.
