Insights European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) and the 5G Infrastructure Association (5G IA) sign Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in cybersecurity and 5G

At the ICT 2018 Conference in Vienna last week, representatives of ECSO and the 5G IA signed a Memorandum of Understanding, committing them to working together towards the creation of a secure and trustworthy 5G communication network in Europe.

The Memorandum of Understanding formalises cooperation between ECSO and 5G IA in the area of cybersecurity and 5G. This cooperation will focus on identifying and addressing the needs of vertical sectors and research priorities for the development of secure technologies and reliable 5G platforms, as well as preventing fragmentation in the deployment of technology across borders and sectors. The European Commission says that this is especially important, as 5G networks will serve not only human users but also connected objects, and cover a wide range of areas including eHealth, transport, energy and entertainment.
