Boutique media law firm Wiggin has advised independent production company Neal Street Productions on its acquisition by All3Media.

Neal Street Productions was founded in 2003 by ‘American Beauty’ and ‘Skyfall’ Director, Sam Mendes, former BBC Drama commissioner, Pippa Harris and theatre veteran, Caro Newling, with Nick Brown joining in 2013. It is behind the hugely popular TV series ‘Call the Midwife’, ‘Penny Dreadful’ and ‘The Hollow Crown’; films such as ‘Jarhead’, ‘Starter for 10’ and ‘Revolutionary Road’; and theatre productions such as ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and ‘Shrek the Musical’.

The deal is All3 Media Group’s first acquisition since it was taken over last September by Discovery Communications and Liberty Global.

Wiggin Corporate Partner Michael Brader led the team which advised Neal Street Productions. Michael previously advised Optomen Television on its sale in 2010 to All3Media – its last material acquisition.

Michael runs the firm’s market-leading practice in independent TV mergers and acquisitions. His recent work in the independent TV space includes advising: Love Productions on the sale of a 70-percent stake to BskyB; Raw TV on its sale to Discovery Communications; Windfall Films on its sale to Argonon; TwoFour on its sale to Boom Pictures; Big Talk on its sale to ITV; The Garden Productions on its sale to ITV; Endemol on its acquisition of Artists’ Studio; Left Bank Pictures on its sale to Sony Pictures; Firecracker Films on its sale to Tinopolis; Betty TV on its sale to Discovery.
