LONDON – Media, technology and brands law firm Wiggin has advised Acute Art on the creation of the World’s first virtual reality (VR) art platform. Concentrating on producing and distributing contemporary works, Acute Art will create a “gallery without walls” accessible to audiences using VR equipment anywhere in the world.

Artists Jeff Koons, Olafur Eliasson and Marina Abramovic have created fully interactive works for the platform, which aims to push art into the disruptive world of VR. While the project will fully launch in Autumn 2017, the works are being previewed at Symposium Stockholm on June 7th and 8th.

Acute Art will continue to commission world class original works whilst seeking to inspire a new generation of digital artists to explore the potential VR has for innovation within the art world.

Shaun Lowde, co-head of Wiggin’s technology group, led the team advising Acute Art and was assisted by Tiffany Dale. Lowde has a particular interest in VR technology and recently commissioned a ComRes survey into the reaction of consumers to the application of VR across various experiences. You can read the results of the survey here.
