Media, technology and IP law firm Wiggin has advised Access Entertainment on the launch of Benchmark Television, a joint venture with BBC Worldwide and Lookout Point.

The three firms have launched Benchmark Television to develop high-end British drama from third parties on the scale of War And Peace and The Night Manager, with A-list actors, writers and directors. The ground-breaking new tie-up will give the go-ahead to projects prior to a commission from a broadcaster being received.

Corporate group co-head Michael Brader and Film & TV group partner Medwyn Jones led the team. Wiggin’s role involved advising on the structure the relationship between the parties as well as how the joint venture will finance projects.

Films on its sale to Sky, Endemol Shine on its investment in Douglas Road, Monumental TV on its investment by ITV, and Naked Entertainment and Full Fat TV on their investments by Fremantle.
