The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, in conjunction with the polling organisation Ipsos UK, has launched a survey to understand the UK’s artificial intelligence sector.

The survey is addressed to businesses that are developing and/or applying artificial intelligence products and services in the UK, and is intended to inform government policy on AI.

It covers a range of subjects, including:

• how much companies have spent on AI-related research and development in the last 12 months;
• how dependent their business is on AI models, tools, or technologies;
• how many full-time employees work in AI roles;
• the percentage of AI-related turnover that comes from exports; and
• how much has been spent on AI-related imports.
