Insights Ofcom publishes updates to technical conditions for 800 MHz mobile licences

Ofcom has amended the technical conditions for spectrum licences in the 800 MHz band, which it says could help mobile companies improve the coverage and capacity of their networks. Following consultation, Ofcom has decided to allow licensees to transmit at higher powers, which will align their conditions with those in place for the recently awarded 700 MHz band.

Ofcom has also introduced measures to ensure operators resolve any potential interference with Digital Terrestrial Television viewers.

Licensees that wish to take advantage of these changes can apply to Ofcom for a variation of their licence. For further details and to read Ofcom’s statement in full, click here.
