Insights Ofcom publishes consultation in relation to its Wholesale Local Access market review to assess possible approaches to fibre cost modelling.

The review examines the market for the provision of access connections used to provide telephone and broadband internet services to residential and business consumers.

Ofcom intends to consult on proposals for future regulation of these services later this year.  In order to progress the market review and be able to consult fully on all future options, Ofcom wishes to examine the wholesale costs of providing fibre access services.

The consultation sets out the general approach Ofcom intends to take to cost modelling in order to estimate the costs of fibre based access services.  These estimates will be used to inform the Wholesale Local Access market review.  For further information, click here.
