Insights Ofcom confirms minor changes to its rules implementing European Electronic Communications Code (EECC)

In October 2020, Ofcom confirmed a package of new customer protections implementing changes to European rules under the EECC. At the same time, it consulted on some minor changes to its existing rules, to ensure clarity and consistency in the terminology and definitions used within them. Ofcom also consulted on some minor changes to reflect the end of the transition period under the EU Withdrawal Agreement.

Ofcom has now published its final decisions on the minor changes, which consist of amendments to some references to “ultrafast broadband” to provide greater clarity on the services to which some of its proposals apply. Ofcom has also published its final notification of the changes it is making to the regulatory rules to implement the customer protections in the EECC and revised consolidated versions of its rules.
