Insights Ofcom consults on proposals set out in its Space Spectrum Strategy.

Ofcom’s Space Spectrum Strategy covers the use of spectrum by the satellite and space science sectors.  Ofcom says that these sectors deliver “important benefits to UK citizens and consumers”, such as broadcast TV, global positioning, communications to ships and aircraft, satellite imagery and information about the climate.

Ofcom believes there is potential for greater benefits in the future.  This consultation sets out Ofcom’s proposed priorities in these sectors to ensure that its efforts are focused on the issues that Ofcom expects to unlock the biggest benefits to citizens and consumers.

Stakeholders are invited to comment on this analysis and Ofcom’s proposed priorities.  Once confirmed, the strategy will shape the prioritisation of work in these sectors over the coming years.

The closing date for responses is 10 May 2016.  To access the consultation documentation, click here.
