The Statement sets out Ofcom’s decision, without consultation, to make a minor modification to the obligation to negotiate interconnection set out in General Condition A1.2 of the General Conditions of Entitlement.

Ofcom has removed from General Condition A1.2 geographical referencing both to the United Kingdom and the European Union. The referencing relates to the location of a provider of a public electronic communications network seeking to negotiate interconnection with another such provider. The change will remove any perceived ambiguity that the EU has any different status to any other country that is not part of the UK, since the UK’s departure from the EU.
