Aimée Metcalfe

Paralegal

Aimée is a Trade Mark paralegal.

“My career switch from design to law arose upon my belief that IP is the most creative form of legal practise.

Prior to joining Wiggin, I obtained a first class Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Communication and Design at the University of Leeds, with a year in industry as the luxury and e-commerce fashion collaboration intern at The Walt Disney Company.

Following this, I delved further into the brand licensing industry and designed print-on-demand clothing, accessories and homeware collections with THG PLC, for some of the biggest licensors in the world including Pokémon, Warner, Netflix and Hasbro. This gave me exposure to commercial dealings, contract execution and compliance, and awareness of the creative barriers in established brand guidelines.

My Masters in Law (Conversion) was pursued simultaneously to my full-time role as a brand and design manager at ITV PLC, where I managed global collaborations across the entire ITV PLC brand licensing portfolio (collectables, toys, gaming, gambling and metaverse) and lead all localised territory projects (live events).

This role gave me further exposure to legal practise (particularly with the Brand Protection team) and ultimately lead me to Wiggin. I am working towards my dream of qualifying as a solicitor specialising in IP and/or contracting in the entertainment sector, whilst maintaining my creative and commercial roots.

Lastly, I hope that my career journey will encourage others that are considering whether to switch things up, to go ahead and follow their dreams!”
